Corona Del Mar

A hip, up-and-coming area with walkable restaurants and shops

Welcome to Corona Del Mar!

A picturesque seaside village of active and thriving residents perched above the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean, Corona del Mar lives up to its name, which means “Crown of the Sea.” Locals call it “CdM,” and though the chic hamlet is part of Newport Beach, it has an aesthetic all its own, with vintage cottages and stunning new builds sitting side by side.

Corona Del Mar is a gorgeous section of the infamous Orange County, and it’s easy to see why its residents stay there for life.

What to Love

  • A sense of small-town community
  • Great walkability to hip restaurants and shops
  • A mix of newly constructed properties and older homes with character

People and Lifestyle

Corona Del Mar’s residents are all very friendly and happy — they love walking along the sidewalks feeling the ocean breeze. It’s a very pet-friendly neighborhood, and people can often be seen taking their dogs to the local coffee shops or restaurants. The homes have character, and owners take great pride in the look and feel of the area.

The residents lead active lifestyles, and with CdM’s many walking and biking paths, it’s easy to see why. You’ll see plenty of joggers and dog-walkers strolling on the oceanfront streets enjoying the breeze. Golf is another popular activity for staying active here — golfers flock to both Newport Golf Course and Pelican Hill.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Corona Del Mar residents take advantage of the wealth of options found in Newport Beach, but they also love visiting their local favorites in the neighborhood. Rose Bakery Cafe is a prime spot to grab some breakfast, brunch, or lunch outside and enjoy that perfect year-round SoCal climate.

Gulfstream Restaurant is another great spot for classic American cuisine. Its modern maritime theme is the perfect setting for a date night or dinner out with family and friends. Summer House is an adorable eatery that’s modeled to look like a cottage — a nice ode to the types of homes found in CdM! The Bungalow Restaurant is the go-to spot in CdM for a perfectly cooked steak, and the wood paneling will take you back to the 70s.

Jan’s Health Bar is the local favorite for smoothies, fresh-pressed juice, and healthy, on-the-go vegan and vegetarian food.

Things to Do

Hip restaurants and trendy shops are popular hangouts in Corona del Mar, especially the popular restaurant and music venue The Quiet Woman. The venue strives to source and promote local music talent, and the shows get started at 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The Place will be your new favorite neighborhood bar if you’re a sports fan — they stream tons of games for the fun and enthusiastic patrons.

CdM is a wonderfully walkable area. On East Coast Highway, you'll find plenty of dog walkers and parents with strollers window-shopping at the many studios, design shops, antique stores, and galleries, such as On Que Style, which does luxury resale. Reborn Coffee is a popular (and super-cute!) place to grab a coffee or tea to go.

Corona Del Mar is the dream location for active residents — the beaches and parks here are top-rated in California. Swimming, surfing, and jogging around the infamous Corona Del Mar State Beach are common pastimes, and kids love to snorkel at Crystal Cove State Park.

Another great activity in CdM is to stroll the expansive grounds at Sherman Library and Gardens, a serene oasis and nationally renowned botanical garden. During the holidays, the Corona Del Mar Christmas Walk is an absolute must! Residents dress up in holiday attire and visit the shops in CdM village for drinks, food, and goodies.
